The Corredoiras are the members of a family that lives by the seashore in a picturesque village of Galicia. Andrés, the father, is a “sailor” by profession, and sails the seas in his boat. One day, the sea, the giver and taker of all things, decides to take Andrés away, never to return again. While trying to cope with the sadness of losing her husband, the mother must also try to persuade her son, who wants to be a sailor like his father, to change his mind. Finally, with the help of the priest, the family is able to come to terms with its problems, and happiness returns to the little seaside town.
